The app
Ply is a chess clock, board-game turn timer and hourglass for iPhone and iPad. We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the App under the terms of Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement, which applies to the App in full.
Purchases
The chess clock with every time control is free. Ply Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription: there is no recurring charge and nothing to cancel. It can be shared with your Family Sharing group. Purchases are processed by Apple; refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store terms, not by us. You can restore a previous purchase on a new device from the App's Settings using the same Apple Account.
Timing in organised events
Ply implements common time controls (for example increment, delay, multi-stage, byo-yomi and Canadian overtime) as described in the App. It is not certified or endorsed by any chess, go or shogi federation. In a rated or organised event, the organiser's or arbiter's rules and equipment take precedence, and decisions about the clock are theirs.
Your content
Presets, player names and game history you create are yours. They are stored on your device and we neither receive nor claim any rights over them.
Acceptable use
Please do not attempt to reverse-engineer, tamper with or redistribute the App, except where that right cannot lawfully be restricted.
No warranty
The App is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. A phone can run out of battery, be interrupted by a call or be knocked off the table; to the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude liability for any loss arising from your use of the App, including a game decided on time or lost game history. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded under the law of your country.
Changes
We may update these terms; the current version always appears on this page with its effective date.
